U.S. economic growth nudged up in the third quarter, the government confirmed on Friday, and there are signs the economy more or less maintained the moderate pace of expansion as the year ended, supported by a strong labor market. Gross domestic product increased at a 2.1% annualized rate, the Commerce Department said in its third estimate of third-quarter GDP. The economy grew at a 2.0% pace in the April-June period. (CNBC) Governing Council decided Eurosystem will no longer accept as collateral secured marketable assets other than asset-backed securities and covered bonds, ECB says in a statement on the website. Decision will take effect when forthcoming amendments to the General Documentation enter into force, envisaged for the second quarter of 2020. Newly issued secured marketable assets other than ABSs and covered bonds will become ineligible for purchase under ECB’s asset-purchase program; those already purchased will continue to be held in the APP portfolios.
